Did you know if your current furnace is 15 years or older, by switching to a  high efficiency furnace you can save up to 50% on your current fuel consumption? In part, most older furnaces are about 80% efficient and are typically over sized for the homes they were installed in. Our industry has learned through the years that smaller sized equipment is actually better. Not only is it better in the steadiness of the heat delivered due to longer run times, it is also easier on the life of the equipment since there is less starting and stopping of the furnace, at the same time providing lower fuel consumption. When combining smaller sized equipment with today’s high efficiency 98% modulating and two-stage variable speed motor technology, you get the most energy efficient, long lasting, and comfortable home heating systems ever produced.

Here is a brief description of the furnace differences:

  • The first option is a called single stage furnace. It is the standard, basic furnace. Every time the thermostat calls for heating, the furnace turns on at 100% capacity, and gives you everything it’s got to heat the house as quickly as possible. It is always trying to keep up with the demand, and is on/off all day.

  • The second furnace option that we carry is called a 2-stage furnace. These furnaces have 2 fan speeds and 2 burner stages. When the thermostat calls for heat, the furnace ramps itself up to its first stage, which is typically about 70% of the units capacity. The fan runs at half speed, and the burners only burn half the amount of gas. If the furnace does not match the thermostat’s call in the first 10 minutes or so, then the furnace will ramp itself up to the second stage, or 100% capacity. This furnace saves money on your energy bill by only running at half speed when you only need a little heat and not the full blown force of 100% capacity.

  • And finally, there is the Platinum Modulating Variable Speed furnace. This furnace is the most efficient, top of the line, quietest furnace out there. This unit runs for long periods of time throughout the day, but it runs at really low capacities, saving you the most money on your energy bills! The furnace ranges itself anywhere from 35% to 100%, in 1% increments. It will never give you more than you need, and will keep the temperature in the house nice and even, helping eliminate cold spots and temperature spikes throughout the day.
